The EERP-USP initiated the first class of its Bachelor’s Degree Program in 1953. Over the years, the program’s curriculum was reformulated to meet social demands according to the guidelines established by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. In 2005, the EERP-USP introduced a new curriculum that gives priority to inter-disciplinary collaboration and the inclusion of students in the contexts of health practice, from the beginning of the program, bringing them into proximity of their chosen profession and enabling a greater integration among students, professors, professionals and users of health services.

The Bachelor’s degree program prepares generalist nurses to deliver care to individuals, families and community groups to promote health, prevention of disease, and recovery from disease, as well as the development of studies to take into account health problems that emerge in the country.

To carry out such a profile, during the educational process, the EERP-USP invests in the development of competencies and skills that support care (preventive, healing and recovering) actions, educational and managerial actions and those related to investigation and general and specific knowledge in order to ensure clinical-epidemiological, scientific and technical qualification, able to allow the inclusion of these professionals in the work process related to intervention, management, teaching and research at the various levels of health care.

Infrastructure

The EERP-USP has a privileged infrastructure for teaching, with laboratories to practice nursing and multidisciplinary procedures, telenursing, comfortable classrooms and auditoriums, computer labs, and a study room.
