Nursing Clinical Simulation Learning Center »
Laboratories

In terms of physical structure, the Center currently has ten teaching laboratories, namely:

Laboratory I - equipped for high fidelity simulation, with latest generation simulators that resemble human beings. It has resources for critical patients’ treatment, control room for instructors with one-way mirror, audio and video transmission and recording equipments, and a videoconference equipment that allows for simultaneous transmissions of the activities to other classes at the College.

Laboratories II, III, IV and V - prepared for skills training and low and medium fidelity simulation, with mother-baby and adult-elderly mannequins. They have computers, TVs for image transmission, internet, stands for skills training, beds and nursing stations.

Group and Individual Interaction Nursing Laboratory (LIGIE) - used for group activities, skills training for the use of light technologies in health care (interpersonal relations, communication, welcoming, bonding and empowerment, essential for care provision). The laboratory has poufs, therapeutic lighting system for chromotherapy and audiovisual equipments (TV, video, DVD and sound system).

Telenursing Laboratory - for ability training through visual resources, equipped with virtual reality simulators for venous access (neonatal, child and adult-elderly venipuncture simulators).

Primary Health Care Laboratory - home simulation with four rooms: kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom. It is used for simulation of daily life activities and development of skills, knowledge and attitudes relevant to health care provision at home, such as observation, communication, posture, conflict situations, individual approach in the family context, environmental evaluation and adaptation aiming at the safety of residents, considering the different phases of the life cycle and the special needs present.

Multidisciplinary Laboratory - is the place where practical Anatomy, Parasitology, Microbiology, Environmental Health and other classes take place. It has a wide physical space with eight stands with sinks. It also has computers and audiovisual equipment, binocular microscopes, stereoscopes, anatomical models (cadaveric parts and in resin), histology, pathology and parasitology slides, parasites set, panels and a collection of cadaveric bones. In addition, there are two additional rooms, one to prepare practical classes, with laminar flow hood, centrifuge, scales, microwave oven, autoclave, fridge, freezer and water purifier. The other room is used to maintain and prepare corpse pieces (equipped with stainless steel tanks and exhaust system).

Educational Practices Laboratory - It is an environment planned for teaching, study, research and simulation of pedagogical practices. It is equipped with furniture, computers, audiovisual and electronic equipment and support material for research and production of teaching resources.
